Job Description

Our client is a multidiscipline engineering firm providing comprehensive and innovative services to public and private sector clients in Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania. They are seeking a Traffic Project Engineer for immediate employment in their Columbia, MD Office.

The qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently on smaller projects or portions of larger projects, have experience in engineering design/analysis for transportation improvement projects, and have an advanced knowledge of engineering software such as MicroStation.

The qualified candidate will design and supervise other staff as part of the design team. Projects will include traffic design for MOT, signing, pavement marking, signals and signal timing. Traffic engineering studies and analysis services, perform traffic modeling and simulation studies, signal warrant studies, speed studies and perform signal timing (evaluation and optimization). Supervise data collection tasks for manual/machine traffic counts and inventory programs.

Job Requirements

• BSCE in Civil Engineering
• 4-8 years engineering experience, with emphasis in traffic engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer in Maryland (or ability to apply for reciprocity)
• Knowledge of SHA, other State DOT and County DPW Guidelines/Procedures
• Ability to work using MicroStation, AutoCAD and other engineering design software programs
• Knowledge and working ability using Synchro/SimTraffic
• Experience supervising staff
• PTOE Certification a plus
