Quality Manager

Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining ISO compliant processes and standards for business process, production, development, and general operations. You will work with all levels of the organization to develop and manage best practice TQM, Lean process, and personnel development. Must have teaching skills that are consistent and decisive while maintaining a mentoring/coaching environment.

  Job Requirements  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Advanced Product Quality Planning and Program Development
•Manage, plan, organize, and participate in the APQP design and development stages for new products or products with significant engineering changes, insuring that customer requirements are met, using the APQP Plan
•Coordinate all sample submissions of new product and engineering changes
•Development of Control Plans, Process Flows, PFMEAs, and other required PPAP documentation
•Manage implementation of PPAP process and maintain PPAP documentation for automotive customers and others who require TFAT, EI/OQ/PQ, and other production qualification requirements

Quality Control
•Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Quality Control Department and ensure proper interface of quality function to Manufacturing, Sales, and Top Management
•Ensure that products meet customer needs and expectations

Quality Management System
•Quality management of the company's products including developing and managing measurement systems that incorporate Customer's View of Quality, in-process manufacturing quality and machine capability.
•Oversee and direct the overall quality direction of the corporation and the effectiveness of the quality management system, including compliance to ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949.
•Perform supplier quality assurance audits for assigned suppliers, when necessary
•Develop corrective actions to support supplier problems and failures, suggesting modifications and corrective actions by suppliers to meet customer specifications and standards
•Maintain a quality assessment system to monitor company objectives
•Revises and updates the quality control manual
•Take lead responsibility for significant quality issues.
•Meet with suppliers, customers, quality representative, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems
•Identify areas where product or service quality requires corrective action
•When necessary, implement corrective action plans and monitor the effectiveness of the solutions
•Support and maintain internal audits and the internal audit schedule
•Work with purchasing staff to manage and maintain the approved supplier list and ensure supplier compliance
•System improvement request tracking and review
•Set up and maintain controls and documentation procedures
•Quality records maintenance and document control
•Maintenance and update of job descriptions

Leadership
•Kaizen leader
•Responsible for contributing to and promoting a high performance team
•Be a liaison between manufacturing and quality control
•Participate on teams that require technical expertise
•Responsible for training plans and programs for personnel
•Maintain a high level of professionalism
•Promote and participate actively in continuous improvement
•Maintain working relationships with other department managers and personnel
•Assess equipment utilization and operation and suggest uses/improvements
•Perform other tasks as directed by manager
•Overtime is required
•Some travel may be required on occasion

Supervisory Responsibilities:

•Responsible for supervision of personnel

Qualifications:

•Ability to interpret part prints, quality plans, work instructions, and apply the knowledge appropriately
•Ability to develop and write technical documents and train personnel
•Proficient in use of Office software including word processing, database, and spreadsheets
•Must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to interact within all levels of the organization
•Demonstrated experience in formalized problem solving
•Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001-2008 and TS-16949-2009/2015

Education and/or Experience:

•High School Diploma required
•Lean/Six Sigma training
•College preferred

Mathematical Skills:

•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
•Ability to perform complex applications of percentages and averages and ratios

Reasoning Ability:

•Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, make decisions and take charge of production situations with clear and calm demeanor

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

•Certificate of supervisory training preferred
•Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training/ certification

Physical Demands:

•Extended hours sitting and viewing a computer screen, repetitive hand and wrist movements.
•Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally

Work Environment:

•Manufacturing environment with associated noises, smells, and temperatures
