Job Description

Position: Quality Engineer
Location: Trenton, NJ

General Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and participating in cross-functional problem-solving techniques assisting with the daily activities of the department. The Quality Engineer is a hands-on position where he or she will be expected to spend a majority of the shift on the production floor and working closely with the Quality Manager to ensure the quality procedures are followed. He or she will also be responsible for recommending and implementing methods to improve quality in the department.

Specific Duties
• Assist in maintaining our ISO 9001:2015 certificate
• Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving techniques such as QC story, PPC, 8D and 5 Why methodologies
• Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages ensuring all elements are met per customer requirements
• Prepares additional documentation at the customers•request
• Create and maintain quality documents (PFMEAs, Control Plans, quality procedures, and work instructions)
• Makes initial quality decisions on products of questionable quality based on the part print, specifications, fit and functionality of the part as well as the customer requirements
• Review rejected material from customers and quickly development interim containment actions and long-term corrective actions
• Training towards continuous improvement of the Quality Department
• Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean
• Performing internal audits at company facilities
• Assist in Document Control processes
• Ability to travel to represent the company on supplier visits approval processes, external audits, and general supplier relations.

  Job Requirements  

Qualifications

• B.S. in a S.T.E.M. discipline preferred (5+ years of experience instead of a college degree will be considered)
• 3 + years in a critical quality role
• ASQ certification in auditing, engineering or management preferred
• Must be proficient in Microsoft office (excel, word, access, PowerPoint, etc�) examples of use and pre-employment testing will be required.
• Knowledge or training in lean manufacturing disciplines is a plus
