Temporary Operations Technician

Department:Facilities Management

Location:Wilmington, DE

PURPOSE: To Provide the Facility Manager with support services related to landfill operations and maintenance requirements, design, permitting, research, analysis surveying and construction inspections.

JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Assist with landfill operations including:
Monitoring on-site contractors for permit/contractual compliance.
Ensuring permit compliance by performing compliance activities

Arranging for contractual services, materials purchase/deliveries etc.
Assisting customers/contractors
Reviewing contractors permitted daily, weekly and monthly inspection forms.
Compiling and computing environmental and engineering data
Providing assistance to engineers for projects and permitting
Performing construction inspection services
Collecting field data
Assisting with research projects
Observing, photographing and documenting the progress of construction work
Performing material testing

  Job Requirements  

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in Engineering Technology, Pre-Engineering or enrollment in Bachelors of Engineering program or any equivalent combination of experience preferred. Two (2) years of relevant experience may be substituted for one (1) year of college providing the

Knowledge of basic mechanics and heavy equipment. Knowledge of basic office skills. Skill in systems monitoring and testing. Skill in monitoring equipment and devices. Skill in applying the tools used in creating and modifying spreadsheets and database applications. Ability to operate motor vehicle and traverse rough terrain. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
