NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
QUANTICO, VA

Job Description:

Candidates for Network Administrator positions will provide continuous pro-active monitoring and management of the unclassified, and classified networks.

Network Administrators are responsible for rapid recovery of network outages and conducting network maintenance. Candidates will execute conference calls for assigned maintenance activities and outages, along with updating and resolving outages and maintenance using the Service Manager ticketing system. Network Administrators must possess knowledge of router and switch technology, configuration of such devices, and have the experience required to verify operational readiness and availability.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Monitor all TRU networks for traffic anomalies, service disruptions and indications of site or region trouble provided network monitoring tools.

• Monitor network router/switch status, respond to network alarms, and respond to associated problems.

• Supporting both Cisco and Linux based routing platforms.

• Remotely access routers, switches, Type 1 Encryption devices, and other equipment to provide support.

• Assist System Administrators with network directories, reports and scheduling events.

• Remotely monitor video teleconferencing equipment and resolve issues as necessary.

• Troubleshoot and resolve network problems relating to all TRU deployment kits.

• Manage connection outages, bandwidth utilization and peaks.

• Create reports to show trends using the Network Management Information System (NMIS) software.

• Take corrective action to ensure all switches, routers and networks are fully operational.

• Perform configuration changes to network devices such as firmware upgrades and device configuration changes, as directed by TRU management in accordance with the TRU change management process.

• Perform port security changes as necessary to ensure proper security compliance.

• Perform remote control to the servers to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.

• Perform 'soft•changes to network devices, such as firmware upgrades and device configuration changes, as directed by FBI management in accordance with the FBI change management process (FBI approved changes only).

• Monitor network and systems performance and troubleshoot problems.

• Create and maintain network diagrams for all new and existing deployed TRU kits.

• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco IP Phones.

• Configure new routers, switches, Type 1 Encryption devices and other equipment for new TRU deployment kits.

• Escalate issues to Tier 3 engineers when appropriate.

• Assist in maintaining network monitoring tools.

  Job Requirements  

Job Requirements:

• Active Top Secret Clearance
• At Least two (2) years of experience in supporting data or telecommunications networks.
• Must have experience with network analysis/management tools and techniques and be familiar with PCs in a client/server environment.
• Must be familiar with IT technology and long distance and local carrier management.
• Shall have experience deploying network configurations, test/troubleshooting activities, documenting network systems.
• Shall be able to determine network usage, troubleshoot network problems and add computer peripherals to the network.
• Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) certification or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
