MIG Welder
Contract to Hire
Columbus, OH

(3:15pm -1:45am) Monday thru Thursday

Enhance facility performance through proactive actions relating to:
•Layout, fit, and weld materials using support tools such as production orders, standard work, blue prints, and other documents related to the Engineering/Customer specification.
•Accurately enter data into the MRP (e.g. SAP) system and ensure that inventory is accurately stated.
•Understand and strictly adhere to all hazardous material shipping guidelines.
•Maintain accurate records such as production orders, data collection, and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) sheets.
•Maintenance all welding equipment used in the department.
•Maintain stock control, pull items for orders, work in other departments, and complete other related duties as required to fulfill customer orders.
•Perform daily activities safely and identify opportunities for improvement.
•Actively participate in facility 5S and Lean initiatives.
•Safely operate fork trucks and cranes.
•Maintain quality throughout the weld process.

•High School graduate with excellent math and reading / writing ability.

•Prior fork-lift / crane certification preferred. Ability to be certified required.
•Current or past AWS certification for D1.1 or D1.5 preferred.

•Experience with MIG, flux core, and submersed arc welding.
•Experience with cutting torches, grinders, sanders, and cutting wheels.
•Experience reading blueprints.
•Experience operating fork trucks and overhead cranes strongly preferred.
•Experience working in a fast paced team oriented environment.
•Experience in reading, comprehending, and following assembly / quality assurance procedures and engineering prints.

Job Requirements

•Ability to read and interpret standard AWS (American Welding Society) symbols.
•Ability to work effectively with torches, cutters, staplers, hand/pneumatic tools, and hand tools (hammers, torque wrench, crow bars, etc.).
•Ability to work with fixtures.
•Ability to safely operate Jib and overhead cranes.
•Ability to operate welding equipment.
•Ability to perform quality inspections based on set expectations.
•Ability to safely operate a forklift.
•Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record.
•Good verbal communication skills.
•Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
•Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office.
•Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques.
•Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
•Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
•Ability to inspect own work and the work of others.
•Strong organizational skills with a focus on details.
•Ability to work overtime when required (some on weekends).
•Ability to work from order schedules.
•Ability to follow directions.
•Ability to follow through in completing assignments.

Physical Demands:

Work Environment:
The duties of this position are regularly performed indoors in varying conditions and occasionally outdoors as necessary. The employee frequently works near moving equipment and mechanical parts, vibration and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to hot or cold temperatures and/or wet or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may work with chemicals such as cleaners, paint, and solvents. The noise level in the work environment is normally quiet to moderate and occasionally loud.
