Work for a Northern New Jersey (Union County) company that supplies the electrical trade with an extensive offering of wallplates, box covers, weatherproof, and conduit bodies which are stamped, die-cast, machined, painted, assembled, and packaged domestically.


Job title: Maintenance Electro-Mechanic

Summary/Purpose:

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of mechanical systems, apparatus, mechanical and basic electrical components of machinery, equipment, and building.

Essential Job Duties:

Ensures operation of mechanical and basic electrical systems of machinery, equipment and building by completing maintenance requirements on machinery and building. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and the building following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, engineering specifications sheets and daily work sheets.
•Installs new machines and equipment.
•Repairs mechanical and basic electrical systems on equipment while diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, inspecting and testing equipment.
•Replaces and repairs faulty and defective parts by using hand tools to install mechanical components, relays, switches, motors.
•Dismantles devices using hoists and hand and power tools.
•Performs work in all maintenance category as needed.
•Provide mechanical/electrical information.
•Maintain building mechanical and basic electrical preventive maintenance and repairs.
•Maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant water and fire system as needed.
•Follows and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
•Promotes worker safety by:
oActively assesses activities on a constant basis to ensure no unsafe actions or results will occur.
oStressing safe working practices as a condition of employment to associates.
oAssisting in audits of employee behaviors to ensure compliance with safety rules and guidelines, as well as housekeeping audits and surveys.
oParticipating actively on the plant-wide safety team.
oEnsuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
•Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
oUnderstanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
oPerforming work at a level that ensures quality of this positions work meets or exceeds internal and external customer specifications.
oIdentifying and correcting if possible any identified quality issues both in the department and plant as a whole.
oParticipating in system or quality based training provided by the company or recommended by the company
•Actively participates in the continuous improvement process (CIP) by:
oIdentifying and addressing any opportunities to reduce cost, improve product/process and/or improve overall operations
oParticipating in CIP teams to eliminate problems, streamline operations or other areas as defined by management
oParticipating in CIP training and exercises designed to expand the potential for continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

(3 phase, 24 volts DC and electronics)
Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial or related military mechanical and electrical repair; Skilled in all phases of Maintenance to include basic electrical, mechanical, machining, welding, carpentry, plumbing and painting.
•Ability to make routine decisions on a daily basis.
•Ability to understand and follow the entire manufacturing process and safety rules and regulations.
•Ability to complete reports and communicate all malfunctions to Management.
•Previous related experience or technical school degree with emphasis on mechanical and basic electrical components.-5 yrs exp. in maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair of automated metal working, assembly and packaging equipment.

-Shift is 7:00am-3:30pm
-Strong electrical background a plus.
