Instrumentation & Electronic Technician
Charlotte, NC

•Under little supervision, performs a variety of tasks involved in the provision of I&E services, customer service and reporting
•Use required equipment including hand tools, electrical test equipment, calibrators, multi-meters and other test equipment.
•Operate and trouble-shoot various control devices, processes and instrumentation including but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature and safety monitoring devices
•Provide professional representation of the company by maintaining extensive contact with company customers and vendors;
•Safely operate and test energized electrical systems (<600 Vac)
•Train junior level I&E personnel
•Evaluate processes for improved quality, cost effectiveness and potential growth.

Essential Mental Functions:
•Strong math and deduction skills.
•Strong computer skills (windows-based applications, specific equipment programs)
•Ability to read maps; knowledge of facility locations

Essential Physical Functions/Equipment Used:
•Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs.; must be able to climb ladders.
•Must be able to be on-call 24/7, including overnight travel to various locations & customer sites to provide service and training based on business needs. May serve on Emergency Call duty.

Preferred Education/Experience:
•Associates Degree/Technical Degree or Higher preferred, namely in Process Instrumentation.
•3+ year’s experience providing I&E services to a variety of process industries supporting multiple salespeople strongly desired.
•Strong computer proficiency required, namely the ability to operate a variety of electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level.
•Clean driving record.


Job Requirements

Technical Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:

•Troubleshooting control loops, single point devices, networked devices
•Process instrumentation (refer to ISI scope of accreditation, witness tested)
•Communication protocols (4/20mA, 3/15psi, Hart, Fieldbus, specific A/N)
•Troubleshooting and testing of power systems (24Vdc, AC systems up to 600 V)
•Technical documents (P&IDs, Electrical Drawings, Technical Manuals)
•PLC based systems and reading logic documentation or PC interface
•Technical requirements of ISO17025, including Uncertainty Measurement, testing requirements, test equipment/buffers capabilities
•Testing equipment and limits
•Customers’ process and critical equipment/controls

Safe Work Practices:

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:

•OSHA 10-hour Safety Training (general, site-specific and as directed)
•Process Controls fail condition and output controls
•Hazardous environment protective equipment
•Working in energized power and control panels / circuits
•Securing process hazards and testing prior to work start (LOTO)
•Identifying first and secondary emergency site contact(s)
•Timely incident reporting

Work Environment:
•Varied environment; customer facilities will include indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to all potential weather and outdoor elements, clean rooms, factories, and others.
