Job Description

Well established consumer good manufacturer is seeking a Facility Mechanic for 1st shift
7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Overtime possible but not regular

Job Function:Support manufacturing operation through mechanical tasks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.5-10 years of relevant work practice in unionized manufacturing environment
2.Mechanical aptitude to utilize hand tools, electric tools with minimal supervision
3.Assist with minor repair of existing equipment
4.Ability to perform moderate carpentry tasks (framing, finish, roofing, window replacement, sheetrock, drop ceilings, insulation, etc)
5.Assist in facility demands: snow removal, grass cutting, trash removal
6.Ability to prime, paint, and caulk wood, metal, plastic
7.Possess ability to weld stainless steel and carbon steel (stick, Mig, Tig, etc)
8.Fabricate structural steel, sheet metal tranitions, piping plenums, etc
9.Ability to pipefit, thread stainless and carbon pipe to 4?, knowledge of wide spectrum of valves, fittings, hangers, etc
10.Capable of disassembly/reassembly of pumps, gearboxes, refiners, roll mills, flakers, rotating machinery to OEM specification
11.Possess skill to operate shop equipment (table saw, lathe, Bridgeport, band saw, drill press, etc)
12.Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, piping and control diagrams
13.Possess aptitude to request and complete work orders; communicate verbally and ability to read and write English
14.Working knowledge of pumps, bearings, bushings, power transmission drives
15.Working knowledge of vacuum, pneumatic, steam, cooling systems and components
16.Capacity to troubleshoot breakdowns, request parts, correct nonconforming designs
17.Work in a limited supervision atmosphere
18.Capable of extended hour commitments, perform weekend watch requirements, on call obligation
19.Comply with existing safety program and reduce current workplace hazards
20.Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP.
21.Follow bargaining unit Labor Agreement in accordance with Company objectives.

Job Requirements

5-10 years of relevant work practice in manufacturing environment

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1.Ability to sit, kneel, stand, bend, squat, twist, and lift up to 100 lbs
2.Computer literate with standard Window software (Word, Excel)
3.Interpersonal skills to clearly communicate with maintenance coworkers, manufacturing personnel, floor supervisors, management staff
4.Detail oriented, organized, ability to multi-task assignments as needed
5.Possess valid driver license
6.Possess communication skills to coordinate with outside vendors, OEMs, and company representative interface
7.Mechanical aptitude to decipher root cause analysis of machinery, repair to OEM standards, document existing condition
8.Complete knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations including but not limited to lock out/tag out, hoists, electrical, guarding, fall protection, PPE, etc
9.Function with little supervision
10.Mathematical skills to compute basic math, fabrication geometry layout, distance/area and volume calculations, tolerance computation, metric and standard conversions
11.Detail oriented, organized, ability to multi-task assignments as needed
12.Ability to interpret direction from manager for all tasks as assigned or relevant to the basic mechanic function and not limited to aforementioned description
