Summary - Downstream Operator

To operate Downstream production machinery safely and efficiently; maintain appropriate documentation and communicate ideas and problems to appropriate staff; perform scheduled preventative maintenance and downstream equipment changeovers; responsible for producing best quality product. In addition to the following duties, this position requires the employee to perform the responsibilities of the Production Associate.

Job Duties:

1. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all downstream equipment to meet or exceed company established Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) expectations and customer quality expectations.
-Follow Lock out/Tag Out policy

2. Responsible for producing and/or packing the best quality products at all times

3. Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks as outlined by the plant PM program

4. Perform scheduled downstream production equipment changeovers as outlined by the plant production schedule

5. Maintain sufficient records to support the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) system - MicroMain

6. Coordinate with Production Manager as it relates to production equipment training and employee development

7. Communicate problems, progress reports and continuous improvement ideas to management staff, maintenance and production personnel

8. Promote and participate in good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance exceeds management and customer expectations

9. Responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation during the shift

10. Responsible for active participation on plant teams and activities including safety, quality, sustainability, community involvement, OEE, maintenance, employee wellness, brainstorming and continuous improvement which are required to create and maintain a World Class Environment

11. Responsible for their personal development by establishing SMART goals, requesting regular meetings with their managers, volunteering for plant improvement teams, requesting additional training, requesting involvement beyond their immediate job responsibilities, seeking higher education opportunities including continuing education classes and meeting or exceeding their self development and performance goals

12. Responsible for reporting quality, food safety, GMP, and food defense issues to their supervisor or a member of management

Job Requirements

Requirements:

-High School diploma or GED equivalent
-Be Prompt and on time, regularly
-Take direction and work well with others
-Work under stress of deadlines
-Concentrate and perform accurately
-React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
-Manufacturing Background/Forklift Certification is a plus

Physical Demands:

Climbing, Stooping, Crouching, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, grasping, Feeling, Fingering, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Movements, Vision, Exertion (50 lbs, 20 lbs frequently)

Work Conditions:

-Temperatures may exceed 100 degrees for more than an hour

-Exposure to being exposed to moving mechanical parts, electric current, chemicals etc.
-Fumes, Odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation
