Summary - District Manager (Chemical Sales)

District Manager is responsible for managing and developing a specified sales force of Technical Sales Managers (TSMs) by leading the sales effort in a geographically defined territory (District) within a Region. The DM will also assist the Regional Sales Director (RSD) in the managing of the personnel assigned to his/her District. The DM will participate in the sales activities for sales of major accounts of Chemetall products. The DM will be responsible for assisting the RSD in the hiring, training, developing, and coaching of the Regional/ District staff.

Job Duties:
-Responsible for the achievement of sales and profitability objectives of his/her District, utilizing a “hands-on” approach to selling and proactive management of large accounts, and working closely with the personnel within his/her district.
-Assists the RSD in establishing objectives for each district sales territory and assists in formulating sales plans for the achievement of objectives in major accounts.
-Participates in determining market potential, new product ideas, product applications, and development of new sales territories.
-Evaluates TSMs within the District and compares achievements with sales objectives.
-Works with TSMs to manage receivables and operating expenses within the District.
-Trains and coaches TSMs to develop effective sales techniques, diversified product knowledge, and awareness of customer needs.
-Maintains contact with major accounts and evaluates the company's position in these accounts.
-Reports directly to the RSD for the Region. The DM will have direct supervision for TSMs and Technical Service Specialists within his/her District.

Job Requirements

-BS Degree required.
-Desire to enter into an introductory management position.
-Industrial Sales background experience including pre-treatment, surface treatment, and metalworking in the Specialty Chemical Industry.
-Must have the ability to plan, organize, and develop a sales team.
-Preparation of written proposals.
-Well organized with sales planning and territory management skills.
-Excellent communication and presentation ability.
