Continuous Improvement Manager

General Description
This position is responsible for coordinating projects, deploying, implementing and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and facilitating company methodologies for the plants under the specific Division. The CI Manager provides leadership and organizes improvement activities to achieve a culture of CI. Assists in the development and successful implementation of daily management practices including CI activities; teaches, supports, and drives the application of Lean principles and tools; coaches and develops the talent of the organization to build a sustainable Lean culture. Being successful as the CI Manager requires a strong commitment to safety and a desire to ensure our business operates to the highest safety standards.

Job Duties
• Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
• Coordinate deployment and integrate the philosophy of CI into the culture of the division plants.
• As a member of the plant leadership team, involved in daily production and operations issues to ensure we produce a quality product, deliver against our committed customer service goals, and optimize efficiency/productivity.
• Identify highest value cost savings projects and coordinate various project teams assigned to ensure proper resourcing to drive completion of projects.
• Provide leadership and direction for the CI activities within the plants.
• Support the VP of Operations, Technical Leaders, and Manufacturing Managers through coaching and disciplined problem solving to develop a sustainable organizational capability in CI.
• Motivate, coach and instill good management skills in engineers, shift supervisors, and hourly employees.
• Establish a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results, so all employees understand expectations.
• Initiate and drive best practices within site; work across functions creating standardized processes, systems, and training materials
• Develop site CI plans; manage the plan execution to achieve the strategic objectives
• Facilitate a process of best practice sharing internally within the plant as well as externally with peers and other facilities.
• Plan and execute CI assessments at the site to identify gaps in standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Propose and coordinate layout changes and time studies.
• Be able to extract useful data from a variety of systems to facilitate the identification of improvement opportunities.

  Job Requirements  

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree is required. Prefer a major in a technical background such as engineering Operations Management or industrial technology. MBA is a plus
• Five years•CI Leadership experience working in a Lean deployment role in a manufacturing-based operation
• Advanced knowledge of core manufacturing concepts related to capacity, lead time, inventories, etc.
• Able to train and educate peers, staff, operators, and site management in Lean methodologies and the CI culture, including planning and facilitating Kaizen events
• Data-based analysis and problem-solving skills
• Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States
• Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically and 5% international if needed
