Job Description

Work for a Central New Jersey (Hunterdon County) company that is a full-range manufacturer of custom springs, clock springs, flat springs, shaped wire springs, wire forms and assemblies.

Coiler Machine - Set-up/Operator:

Summary:
Set-up and operates automatic spring coiling machines to fabricate springs from steel wire according to blueprints and set-up charts. Machine is making compression springs and torsion springs of varied sizes/materials.

Will be working on both CNC coiling machines as well as manual coiling machines that run with cams/gears.


•Machine brands are Herdon and Torin.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Reviews blueprint to determine set-up procedure to follow, machine attachments required and stock to use or obtain details from set-up charts.
Selects machine attachments such as taper cams, wire size block, coiling point, pitch tool and installs them on the machine.
Verifies wire diameter with a micrometer or caliper and threads the wire through drive rollers and machine guides. Sets cams, turnbuckle and pitch tool to control the spring dimensions.
Makes a trial run and measures sample product for conformance to specifications using gauges, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
May make/fabricate tool attachments, forming tools and cut-off tools.
Adjusts the machine to attain specified tolerances.

Job Requirements

Requirements:
1-5+ years experience in a fast paced shop.
Must understand how to read blueprints
Must have experience with measuring instruments i.e. micrometers and calipers.
Must have a mechanical aptitude
