Job Description

CNC Plasma Operator
Columbus, OH
Contract to Hire
2nd Shift (trains on first)

The CNC Plasma Operator works from production orders, routings, blueprints, and process documentation to appropriately layout, fit, cut and form fabricated materials to create required parts/products. The operator also inspects parts for acceptable tolerances based on documentation, confirms the material in the MRP system, and delivers product to the next internal/external customer.

Enhance facility performance through proactive actions relating to:
•Work independently
•Safely operate CNC Plasma table
•Read, understand and comprehend basic blueprints and drawings
•Layout, fit, cut, and form materials using support tools such as production orders, standard work, blue prints, and other documents related to the Engineering/Customer specification.
•Grinding, de burring, cleaning parts, cutting and removal of scraps
•Accurately enter data into the MRP (e.g. SAP) system and ensure that inventory is accurately stated.
•Understand and strictly adhere to all hazardous material guidelines.
•Perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered.
•Maintain accurate records such as production orders, data collection, and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) sheets.
•Maintenance all fabrication equipment used in the department.
•Maintain stock control, pull items for orders, work in other departments, and complete other related duties as required to fulfill customer orders.
•Assist in identifying improvement opportunities.
•Perform daily activities safely and identify opportunities for improvement.
•Actively participate in facility 5S and Lean initiatives.
•Safely operate fork trucks and cranes.
•Maintain quality throughout the fabrication process.

High School graduate with excellent math and reading / writing ability.

Job Requirements

•Experience with machine operations.
•Experience with basic hand tools.
•Experience reading blueprints.
•Experience operating fork trucks and overhead cranes strongly preferred.
•Experience working in a fast paced team oriented environment.
•Experience in reading, comprehending, and following assembly / quality assurance procedures and engineering prints.

•Ability to operate, or learn to operate, equipment used in the fabrication of material.
•Ability to perform quality inspections based on set expectations.
•Ability to safely operate a forklift.
•Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record.
•Good verbal communication skills.
•Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
•Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office.
•Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques.
•Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
•Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
•Ability to inspect own work and the work of others.
•Strong organizational skills with a focus on details.
•Ability to work overtime when required (some on weekends).
•Ability to work from order schedules.
•Ability to follow directions.
•Ability to follow through in completing assignments.

• Prior fork-lift/crane certification preferred. Ability to be certified required.
