Job Description

CNC Machinist

Shift 2pm-10:30pm

Program, set-up and operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines to manufacture parts to print tolerances. Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Run production lots, inspect parts, communicate with co-workers and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.


Program CNC machines, based on part specifications, using SurfCam/GibbsCam software.

Performs typical machine shop operations.

Ability to perform the basic duties and responsibilities of an Industrial Products CNC Operator.

Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or other designee.

Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding.

Perform inspection of machined product (including documentation of results).

Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.

Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to, pre-form fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blasting.

Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

Address all safety related issues immediately by informing the appropriate individual.

Comply with PPE requirements at all times.

Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Complete all other duties, as assigned.


Minimum seven (7) years experience as CNC Operator or equivalent technical machining certification/degree.

High School Diploma/GED.

CNC programming experience using SurfCam/GibbsCam software

Apprenticeship completed ? certified as Journeyman machinist.

Previous experience in setting up and operating a CNC machine in a production environment.

Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide (i.e., proven elementary math skills).

Demonstrated ability to program CNC machines using SurfCam/GibbsCam software.

Demonstrated ability to independently operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously.

Ability to read, write and speak the English language (i.e., proven elementary reading and writing skills).

Demonstrated ability to converse and comprehend using the English language.

Demonstrated ability to use a standard computer keyboard.

Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures.

Demonstrated ability to use handheld measuring tools including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometer, tape measures, etc.

Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings.


Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds, repeatedly.

Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.

Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures.

Able to walk/stand a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.
