Job Description

Work directly for a growing Central New Jersey area full-service contract filler product primarily used in the personal care industry.

Chemist - R&D

Primary Function:
To provide timely and accurate technical service to their assigned accounts; To collaborate inter-departmentally and externally as needed to develop current and innovative aerosol and bag-on-valve products to fulfill company and customer needs.
Specific Responsibilities:
1)Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in:
•Creating, preparing & executing formulation batch sheets;
•Abiding by all laboratory safety procedures and practices;
•Compiling ingredient lists & key benefits;
•Troubleshooting production issues as it relates to the batching and filling of a given formula;
•Investigating customer complaints;
•Reviewing customer artwork for technical correctness;
•Remaining cognizant of all pertinent regulations and restrictions as they evolve;
•Ensuring that all products are tested and evaluated in accordance with cGMP regulations;
•Maintaining accurate records of procedures, data, and observations in a cGMP lab notebook.
•Reviewing stability results to ensure formula/component robustness

2)Exhibits strong communication and collaboration skills as it relates to:

•Collaborating inter-departmentally and externally with vendors with the goal of developing technically sound and innovative products

3)Manages time and priorities effectively with regards to:
•Sampling & submitting formulas to meet all commitments;
•Scheduling and accomplishing weekly tasks appropriately.

4)Displays personal initiative by:
•Researching independently as the first step in problem-solving;
•Proactively identifying departmental needs and brainstorming solutions;
•Investigating alternate materials and technologies for use in products/prototypes;
•Understanding consumer insights to drive the innovation and product development processes;
•Demonstrating a desire to learn more, both formally and informally.

  Job Requirements  

Qualifications:
•BA/BS degree in Chemistry required with a demonstrated interest in cosmetic, personal care, and OTC Drug chemistry
•Laboratory experience required
•Strong computer and math skills
•Excellent critical thinking skills
•3-5+ years•experience strongly preferred
